We Are Pregnant!

Big news...Blaine and I are pregnant! We decided to get off birth control in December and apparently got pregnant two weeks after getting off of the pill! Here is the story: I was exactly one week late on January 20th. Since I had the day off of work, I went to the store early in the morning and bought not just one, but two pregnancy tests (just in case). When Blaine came home from work for lunch we decided it was time to take the first test. The package said the results would show up within 2-10 minutes. However, once we dipped the stick in my urine cup, the positive sign showed up within seconds! We both could not believe our eyes! I was shaking so bad and kept thinking, "no, this has to be a false positive, there is no way we could have gotten pregnant this fast!" So, I instantly opened up the second pregnancy test and dipped that one into the cup too. And, again, the positive sign showed up within seconds, instead of minutes. After taking the second test I felt excited and scared at the same time. I was both excited to have a baby growing inside me and scared realizing that I would be a PARENT in nine months...yikes!

After the initial shock we called the doctor and set up our 8 week appointment. We had originally decided not to tell our parents until the first ultrasound at the 8 week appointment, but could not last that long. I wanted to tell both sides of parents in a creative way, not just over the phone. I bought two cute little magnetic picture frames that said "Baby" on them and put a little insert where the picture should go. You can see what the picture frames look like in the picture below.

Our 8 week appointment was on February 17th, where we found out we were 9 weeks along! Listening to our little baby's heart beat and seeing it beat on the monitor was amazing! I remember looking up at Blaine and seeing water in his eyes as he watched the monitor screen. It was so cute! We posted a picture of our baby's first ultrasound below.

Meet our new child - Blerin!

What do you think about my little new baby Blerin?
MakeMeBabies.com - What will your baby look like?

I matched Blaine's face and my face together to see what our kids might look like on makemebabies.com. I don't know how accurate this source is because the resulting child does not look like either one of us! Since I did not pick a gender when matching our faces together, the website apparently chose a girl for us by the looks of the child we created. This made me laugh because when we do have kids, Blaine has made it very clear that he only wants boys. Haha honey! Anyway, I thought Blerin would be a good name for our cute little girl. :)

Our First Year Anniversary

Blaine and I celebrated our first year anniversary in Bend, OR, since we were there over Christmas time. Our anniversary was on December 27th. We spent the day shopping, visiting friends, and eating pizza for lunch at Cibelli's, where Blaine worked for a couple of summers. When it was time for dinner, we could not decide on a place for the life of us! We probably drove toward at least three different restaurants and then changed our minds and drove to a different place. It was mostly my doing, but I just wanted to go to the perfect place to celebrate our first year as a married couple. (Blaine thought I was losing my mind)! Anyway, after much time, debate and frustration, we ended up going to Chan's, our favorite Chinese restaurant in Bend. It was not the nicest restaurant I had in mind, but the food and company was great! Afterward, we went back to my parent's house to eat our original wedding cake my parent's froze for us a year ago. Let me just tell you that it did not taste like the original. Blaine and I spit it out once we took our first bite! In the future, we will not be recommending the "saving of wedding cakes" to our newly married friends! After tossing the cake, we spent the rest of the night playing games with Blaine's brother Brett and his wife Rachel.
I love my husband so much and cannot picture my life without him. He is the most patient and loving person I have ever met and look forward to many more anniversaries in the years ahead. 2008 has been a great year for us and we are so grateful for all the many things we have in our life. May the new year be a blessed one for us all! Happy New Year 2009!

More Christmas Pictures

Here are a couple of pictures taken by my parent's Christmas tree...one of Blaine and I, and one of my mom and I. (Apparently, the rest of my family were tired of taking pictures at this point). I also posted a picture of my good friends and I from Bend, OR...Alison, Nicole, and Heidi. We always try to get together whenever we are all in town, which is usually for Christmas. This year we met up at Johnny Corinos for dessert and the sharing of nostalgic moments. :) In high school we called ourselves the "QUAD" because there were only four of us and we always hung out together and did lots of crazy, random, and fun things. It sounds funny now, but we really had some good times. I miss you girls!

Christmas Morning

Merry Christmas 2008! Blaine and I flew to Bend, OR to be with my family for Christmas this year. We flew in Christmas Eve night and stayed four nights. We had a lot of fun opening presents, going to movies, snowboarding, shopping, playing games, eating good food, and being around friends and family.
