June Festivities

Where oh where did June go and July come from? Seriously though, the month of June went by incredibly fast! Even though it went by so quickly, we managed to squeeze in some fun.
In the beginning of June, Blaine and I went to see Jerry Seinfield perform at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake. I have always thought Seinfield was a funny guy. However, watching him "live" made him that much more entertaining. Additionally, if any of you watched the first season of The Marriage Ref on t.v., like myself, you are familiar with Tom Papa, the host of the show. Anyway, Papa was Seinfield's opening act, who was equally hilarious in my opinion. Overall, Blaine and I had a great time at the show!
Toward the end of June, our family took a road trip to Bend, OR to spend a week with my family. Blaine's brother, Brett, also lives near my parents, which was nice to spend time with him and his little family as well. Additionally, Blaine's parents and siblings came down to Oregon from Washington during the same time we were in town, which worked out well. We got to see both sides of family in one shot. :) We had a lot of fun hiking Smith Rock, bike riding (first time for Cannon),going to an Elk's baseball game, watching some movies, shopping, eating out, and just spending time together. Blaine practically went golfing with his brothers every day we were there, which he was pretty happy about since he doesn't golf much at home (I'm not a supporter of golf). Anyway, we had a great time and look forward to seeing our families again later this summer for my brother Kyle's wedding in July, and then for Blaine's brother Trevor's wedding in August. Anyway, here are some pictures taken last month in June:

Eight Months

Cannon is growing just too darn fast! It makes me sad when I go to work at the hospital because when I see the tiny newborn babies, it makes me realize that Cannon is not that small anymore. It is bittersweet to look back at pictures of Cannon when he was hours old, days old, weeks old, and a few months old. Wow has he changed! I tear up just thinking about how much he has grown over the last eight months. This last month Cannon has started saying "da da", but has not yet associated this word with Blaine. So, I guess it doesn't count. He has also started to point at various objects and loves it when we say what the objects are. Even though he hasn't started crawling, he gets his way around the house just fine by rolling. If an object is just barely out of his reach, he will roll around in a circle just to get at it, which is very funny to watch. Anyway, those are some updates on Cannon. As for Blaine and I, there is not much going on. :) We are pretty boring, which is why I mostly blog about Cannon. Blaine keeps busy with work and golfs when he has the chance, while I keep busy with Cannon at home and work two night shifts a week at the hospital. Super exciting, huh? But, we will be traveling for a couple of weddings this summer which we are looking forward to and will give us something more to blog about, besides Cannon. :)

Speaking of Cannon, below are some MORE pictures of him. Since these pictures are mostly posted for grandparents who live far away and don't see Cannon very often, I am sorry for boring those of you who read our blog with tons of pictures of Cannon...

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there! Now than I am "officially" a mother, I love Mother's Day even more! A weekend of no cleaning, no cooking, flowers, cards, chocolate, gifts, and extra TLC, who wouldn't love that? Anyway, my first Mother's Day was great. Blaine and Cannon were very sweet and pampered me all weekend. Cannon (with a lot of help from Blaine) surprised me with flowers, chocolate, my favorite cereal for breakfast (cereal is my favorite thing to eat in the world, no matter what time of day it is), and a trip to the salon. I feel so honored to be a mom and think it is the greatest calling in the world. Cannon has truly enriched my life and has brought so much joy, laughter, and happiness. Here is a look back at some of my first moments and more recent moments with Cannon, because, after all, it is he who has given me my new title of "mommy"...

Cannon's 6th Month Activities (here you go mom)

Along with the sunny, warm weather we have been having this spring in Utah, came fun, outdoor activities. I think Cannon has experienced more fun things just in this month of April, than he has in the previous months combined! Below are some pictures of things we did this month, which were many "firsts" for Cannon:

Our New Car

Blaine and I have been talking about selling my old Honda and buying a new car for over a year now. Finally, we were able to pull the trigger on Saturday. We ended up trading in my 1997 Honda Civic for a 2009 Nissan Murano. Since the civic was my very first car and the one I had driven since high school, I was sad to see it go. But, it was time to say goodbye. The Honda and I had a good ten year run. I just hope she goes to a good home! :) On a happier note, we bought a fairly new SUV! I have always wanted a SUV and now I finally own one. It is the perfect size for us. Blaine and I agreed that the Murano will be my car to drive around in, and Blaine will drive our Corolla to work and on business trips since it gets better gas mileage. Great deal for me! Anyway, I am very excited about our new car and find myself always wanting to drive around just to be in it! Here are some pics:
